The Arizona Foundation for Women is proud to host the 2009 Walk to End Domestic Violence in collaboration with the 2009 Phoenix 10K (formerly known as the New Times 10K). The Phoenix 10K is the longest running 10K in Arizona, and is one of the longest running 10K’s in the nation. In its 34th year, the Phoenix 10K typically consists of over 8,000 participants and an additional few thousand spectators. This collaboration will allow for the Walk to End Domestic Violence to assume the existing 5K Walk at the Phoenix 10K event.

This partnership will assist us in reaching our goals of generating a much greater awareness of domestic violence in our community and raising more funds for domestic violence shelters and programs in Maricopa County.

While this collaboration requires the DV Walk to move from April to November, the components of the DV Walk will remain the same, including the Team structure and participants walking or running. Since October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, moving the DV Walk to November is a wonderful way to conclude all efforts supporting domestic violence awareness in October.
